Pippa and Kristian's March Wedding at Southend Barns
Kristian and Pippa are a young, trendy, bubbly couple who came to me last minute when their original photographer pulled out. It turned out to be one of those 'meant to be' moments, as the wedding was a joy to photograph; full of emotion and magic, and the couple ended up loving the results. Phew!
Muted pinks and greys were the order of the day, and the soft tones were beautifully complemented by striking spring sunshine, baby blue sky and fluffy white clouds. Perfection! This quirky gardening fork somehow ties the entire wedding together for me; it looks like it was born to be nestled in the lawn at the rustic haven that is Southend Barns; the couple painted it up to be in keeping with the colour scheme but it carries an emotional back story. It belonged to a grandparent who was sadly not around to be part of the day, but definitely there in spirit! Check out the fresh spring green of the grass, and that wistful sky behind.
The Southend Barns team also run a pub nearby called the Blacksmiths Arms, and this was where I found Kristian and his groomsmen grooming themselves for the big day. The pub is stylistically very similar to the barns in its decor and furnishings, so linked aesthetically to the later images in rather a pleasing way! I used the funky radiators to capture the groom’s details, they tied in to the silvery grey theme perfectly, and balanced the pretty dramatic shadows cast by his shoes!

Russell and Catherine's Southend Barns February Wedding
The very end of February is that wonderful time of year when the hood of the lengthy winter hibernation period seems to lift and we all peek out (blinking and baffled) and suddenly realise that it's nearly MARCH. Somehow in the depths of winter it feels like March will never come. Russell and Catherine's wedding on the 26th of February this year was clear, crisp and sunny, suggesting that the ever elusive spring was just around the corner. Ever so subtle touches punctuated their Southend Barns wedding which seemed to effortlessly tie winter and spring together. Clever use of colour and texture coupled with the energy of the very young children present seemed to add a family feeling bursting with new life and positivity.
The colour scheme that Catherine and Russell went for was deepest purple combined with the most vibrant of lime green. It's amazing how well the two colours complement each other; that splash of green reminding us of the promise of springtime just around the corner. I love how well the bridal bouquet sits snugly on the rustic fur that they had placed on the seats in the Dairy Barn for the ceremony:

One thing I love most about my job is meeting so many different couples at such an exciting part of their lives. Each and every couple is so unique and getting to know them is always one of the best bits as I discover how to bring out their personalities in my photographs. This was no different for the unforgettable Daisy and Sheyi who I first met when photographing their engagement shoot in Arundel. Straight away I could see just how deeply in love this couple were and how much fun and enjoyment they get from being in each other’s company. Their bubbly personalities and beaming smiles are so catching - I couldn’t wait to capture their wedding day, I knew it was going to be magical! And I wasn’t wrong…
